Secondary & Primary Research

To assist businesses in making more informed decisions, Brockfield Solutions offer a full research service, including secondary, primary quantitative and primary qualitative research

Secondary research focuses on collating sections of research conducted by others, including sources such as the Office for National Statistics, Company's House, etc, and provides the basis of bespoke market intelligence reports required by clients to assist in specific projects or as part of larger strategic reviews. We also publish Reports (see Downloads) on particular market intelligence themes.

Primary quantitative research gathers information directly from the market place and normally uses some form of representative sampling and formal interviewing or data gathering techniques. The findings from quantitative research will be expressed in numerical terms, e.g. 60% of the sample are 'Very Satisfied with...'.

Primary qualitative research also gathers information directly from the market place but is more concerned with uncovering the motives for action than quantification (as is the case quantitative research). Qualitative research uses tools such as in-depth interviews and focus groups and the findings are rich in insight of additional factors and drivers that will enable companies to improve their image and customer perception, and hence differentiate themselves from their competition.

Examples of research studies conducted by us are:

  • Customer satisfaction studies
  • Market/segment size analysis
  • Competitor positioning studies
  • Advertising effectiveness studies
  • Customer needs analysis and customer preferences.
